Our protagonist, Quinton Bell/Byron Douglas, is a formidable character who combines his intelligence and legal prowess to keep me invested in his journey from the get-go. As he navigates the treacherous waters of a high-profile criminal case and a subsequent contract on his life you’ll find yourself eagerly flipping the pages to see how he’ll outmaneuver his adversaries. His transition and will to figure out his life and those around him led to some great characters as his supporting cast. I hate to give anything away but that very old saying of “Here comes the Judge” was playing in the background!

One of the standout features of Dead By Proxy is the way it draws on the author’s experiences. Books based on a little truth are always better, and this author uses past cases as a starting point for her stories, weaving and elaborating as it lends authenticity to the tale.

The plot twists and turns like a Texas twister, keeping you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you have it all figured out, Wolfe throws another curveball your way. It’s a testament to her storytelling skills that she can maintain such a high level of suspense throughout the book.
