The Mystery of Specter Island – Book 4 Cari Turnlyle Series by Leslie Piggott

In the fourth installment of the Cari Turnlyle mystery series, the stakes are higher, and Cari finds herself navigating uncharted territory both in location and her relationship with Bob. Accepting Bob’s invitation for a relaxing vacation, Cari is in a situation where she doesn’t have her usual comfort items, such as a familiar location or her friend/detective by her side. As the mystery deepens, Cari jumps in headfirst to the investigation.

What sets this book apart is Cari’s palpable growth. As a dedicated sleuth and journalist, she is immediately consumed by the mystery, uncovering layers that test her skills and resolve. But as she is focused, Bob becomes more and more distant and distracted. The delicate balance between her love for solving puzzles and the strain it can put on her relationship with Bob and others is a compelling layer to the narrative. Having followed the entire series, I appreciate the author’s ability to keep Cari dynamic, pushing her out of her comfort zone and allowing readers to witness her evolving character. A thrilling blend of mystery, personal struggle, and character development, this installment solidifies the Cari series as a must-read for mystery enthusiasts.
