INTERVIEW !
JENNIE: What was the inspiration behind Joss’ story in Amara Acquired?
MICHEL: A layover in the Detroit airport. My husband and I had to take different flights and the idea came to me. What if only one of us made it and the other was waiting on the other end. Mixed with the Malaysian plane that went down that they couldn’t find – As if it was completely gone.
JENNIE: After writing Amara Acquired, or maybe before writing, do you have any concerns about flying?
MICHEL: Not really, I’m a pretty good flyer. My only unease comes from falling asleep because I’d hate to snore on a plane.
JENNIE: You write in a variety of genres; how do you decide what to write next?
MICHEL: Whichever character pokes me and says, “Hey lady, it’s my turn.” Sometimes I have people that pull me into a different idea and I’ll end up in a collaboration. All of them are chances for me to stretch my skills.
JENNIE: What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to writing?
MICHEL: Marketing. I love writing, but dropping a book, pushing a series, and knowing when and how is what will shut me down. I’d rather do a tiktok that makes a person laugh than pitch my book.
JENNIE: What are you looking forward to during your first time attending Coastal Magic besides the beach?
MICHEL: I see a lot of readers excited to come. That’s what makes a great convention, attendees excited to meet new authors and fan their favorites.
JENNIE: What is your goal for, and how can readers support, your Kickstarter for Amara Acquired?
MICHEL: My goal is to get enough to fund print the special edition. I’ll only have one run of it so if you order a book that’s step one, you can order the add ons and hopefully we can make the push goals to enhance the book with a ribbon bookmark and other goodies. Share with your friends who might enjoy a good book with sprayed edges.
