COASTAL MAGIC DECEMBER SPOTLIGHT – GREGORY ASHE!

Recently I had a chance to chat with author, Gregory Ashe. See what he has to say below and continue on for your chance to be one of three winners receiving a free ebook or audio book!

JENNIE: You’ve worked with authors like C.S. Poe on projects. What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned from collaborating with other writers?

GREGORY: Literally? That New York doesn’t have alleys! Where are bad guys supposed to jump out of? (The answer is: cars idling at the curb.) More broadly, I love learning about other authors’ processes – Poe and I are very different in some ways, and it’s been a great opportunity to stretch myself as a writer.

JENNIE: You run a subscriber service on Patronage where subscribers get access to exclusive content. What inspired you to create this elite experience, and how do you decide what makes the cut for these perks?

GREGORY: I had a difficult time deciding if I wanted to create a patronage site, but I finally decided to try it because so many readers were kind enough to ask me about ways they could support me.

We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of Advanced Ashochism (my patronage site), and it’s been a fantastic experience. Thanks to the support of my patrons, I’ve been able to write three novels that I probably never would have written (Follows with Intent, The Kiss Principle, and Body Count).

My guiding principle for content on the patronage site is to offer content that enriches the reading experience for patrons. This includes short stories, flash fiction, epilogues, and serialized novels. While some of this content (like the novels) eventually makes its way to a public release, most of it remains exclusive to patrons.

JENNIE: For new readers, what can they expect to find in your subscriber-only content that they won’t see anywhere else?

GREGORY: As I mentioned above, most of the new content extends and enriches the stories readers will find in my books. Usually, this content tends to be light-hearted and heartwarming. (I mostly save the angst for the novels!) I also feature exclusive art, behind-the-scenes access (this year, for example, patrons had access to a draft of a work-in-progress, so they could read it as I wrote in real time).

JENNIE: You have a release on December 16 for book 6 of your Cozy Mystery, The Last Picks series. What can you tell us about this new book?

GREGORY: I’m so excited for everyone to read Again with Feeling. Dash has lived in Hastings Rock for a year now, and things with his best friend (and possibly more), Deputy Bobby, are about to come to a head! The mystery itself is a cold case investigation, and we even get to see the return of one of Dash’s nemeses (yes, he has more than one). I had so much fun writing this book!

JENNIE: We’re getting close to the Coastal Magic Convention in February, besides a chance to get out of the cold of MO and onto a beach in FL. What do you enjoy or look forward to the most?

GREGORY: Definitely the weather, as you said! I also am excited to see Jennifer and Dolorianne and all my other friends who will be there, as well as to meet lots of new friends! I haven’t attended Coastal Magic before, so I’m looking forward to a lot of firsts!

Thank you so much for this chance to tell people more about myself!
