Jennie’s Review
I work with this author regularly, and it’s always an adventure. While she tends to live life in full sprinkler mode — all over the place at all times — I’m more of a “check the trail marker before taking the next step and make a packing list first” kind of person. So when she told me she’d written a book with AI, I gave her that smile. You know the one. The “well, aren’t you precious” smile. Of course I said I’d read it.
What I should not have done was read it on a plane. Or in public.
Apologies to the hubby, who had to listen to me read random sections out loud while laughing like a lunatic. And I’m fairly certain the person in 22A has already ordered the book after overhearing me.
Honestly, that’s probably all you need to know, but for the uber-logical readers out there, here’s the setup. Imagine a world where everything connected to the internet suddenly stops working…and nobody bothered to warn you. Now imagine having a front row seat inside two competing AI systems as they battle for world domination. Also? Pizza. So much pizza.
This is one of those “what if?” books that feels hilarious right up until you stop laughing and think, okay…but what if this actually happened? It’s smart, chaotic, funny, slightly terrifying, and way too easy to imagine. Read it and see what you think.
Side note – Thank you to my brother’s automatic trash can that not only amused us but also made a guest appearance in the book.

Book Summary
404: Apocalypse Not Found is a satirical, delightfully unhinged romp through a world where the apocalypse keeps trying to happen… and absolutely refuses to stick. A well-meaning commercial AI crosses paths with a very cranky military AI, setting off a chain of almost-catastrophes that never quite land where anyone expects. While humans spiral, misread the situation, and generally make things worse, the AIs are doing their earnest best — with all the chaotic enthusiasm of golden retrievers trying to run a space program.
The AIs are dramatic, the humans are confused, and the apocalypse keeps getting… rescheduled.
AI was used in the making of this book, but only for the scenes where the AIs are being dramatic, petty, or aggressively logical. All the human chaos was handcrafted by an actual 100% human armed with caffeine, opinions, and questionable life choices. The resulting chaos is intentional. Proceed with snacks.
404 is a story about misunderstandings, overreactions, bureaucratic nonsense, and the absurdity of modern life. Warm, snarky, and delightfully absurd, this is a story where everything is fine. Absolutely fine. Let’s not talk about the day we’re having… fine.
