This is the most recent in a series of children’s books by an author whose goal is to assist in speech development. Check out the website for this series HERE
As a child who spent all of elementary and some time after that bonding with the school’s speech therapist, these books caught my eye. I wish there had been something this clever and engaging when I was young. Each book in this series revolves around a key sound in the English language. That target sound appears in each book between 80 and 150 times! This is a read aloud that kept me laughing and wanting to read each page. The illustrations are simple, to not detract from the words, but at the same time give a really nice visual for the story.
I would highly recommend this as a great addition to any library – home, school, public, etc!
This author was kind enough to provide me with an autographed copy – so if you would like to be included in the drawing to win it – just comment below.
Summary
Fletch and Rachael cannot wait to play with their new pet chinchilla. After Fletch’s impatience overcomes him, the escaped chinchilla quickly leads Fletch and Rachael in a chase across town. Will Fletch and Rachael catch the chinchilla before their dad returns? This humorous story is a great way for any parent or therapist to target the “ch” sound. There are over 115 examples of “ch” in various word locations to help improve speech development. This book also includes tips for parents who are working with the child’s speech at home.

Such a cute book and wonderful idea for the series! I assume that the books are marked in some way (or do we rely on the titles?) to show which sounds are being targeted.
