Dervla Alarms the Nanas by D. R. Ransdell

Walking the aisles of the Tucson Festival of Books, I was thrilled to see D. R. Ransdell. This author has entertained me in the past with her unique stories and fantastic characters. True to form, Ransdell delivered a literary feast with her trademark blend of compelling storytelling, vivid characterizations and skillful portrayal of internal character voices. I was in for a treat before the first page.

In this latest book, the main character, Dervla has just had her world ripped out from under her by a sudden breakup that also includes losing the business she has been building for years. When her ex is implicated in a shocking murder, Dervla finds herself reluctantly drawn into the investigation by two wise and determined elderly women, Nanas, who refuse to take no for an answer. As Dervla grapples with the Nanas’ revelation of her latent abilities, her reality takes on a surreal and captivating dimension.

This book is filled with a world populated by a diverse and vibrant cast. Even the briefest appearances leave a lasting impression, enriching the tapestry of the narrative.

With its intriguing blend of mystery, humor, and supernatural elements, this was a captivating read that kept me guessing until the very end. For readers seeking a captivating escape into a world where the ordinary collides with the extraordinary, look no further than this mesmerizing tale.
